Joe Biden is like that old boyfriend who keeps wanting to give your relationship one more chance. You like him. You have some good memories of your time together. But you no longer feel any passion for him. He’s a particular guy from a particular time in your life. He represents the past, not the future.
His entire agenda is to peddle aggressive lies and paranoia to the most gullible people in society and then, when those people are hooked on his nonsense, to sell them overpriced and useless nutritional supplements, doomsday prepper plans, and other nonsense. That some people swallow what he sells does not excuse his actions. It merely shows us that many people are easily duped. That’s not news.
Charles Kushner does not need editorial space in the Washington Post to make his voice heard. He is plenty wealthy and connected enough to speak out on his own. But it’s because he has such wealth and connections that he gets the privilege of writing for a major national newspaper. A person born and raised with lesser means would never get the same opportunity.
I don’t know how we ever came to the conclusion that women are more emotional than men. I suspect it was a convenient way for men to keep women out of the halls and boardrooms of leadership. Or maybe men didn’t have much reason to cry when they were able to rape and assault and lie with impunity.
A better question is why Trump would employ someone with such terrible scruples for such a long time. Why would he want a man of bad character handling his business?
It is no small thing for a son or daughter to speak out against a parent. It is harder still, I imagine, to do so under the glare of court and camera. But it was the right thing to do.
Honestly, in an era where we’ve all heard the current president brag about sexual assault, I’m not sure why anyone believed a few smarmy messages and some compromising photos would be enough to take down a man like Bezos. The times, they are a-changing.
If you can’t handle being called a billionaire, how will you survive when someone calls you “nasty” or makes fun of your suits? How will you handle it when some media pundit says you should smile more? Will you be really upset when they call you shrill?
I propose that we require every person considering a run for public office to spend 90 days living on low wages and without a safety net.
I think Giuliani is the guy to watch as this mess goes down. The crazier he gets, the closer we all are to learning the truth. Giuliani is the canary in Trump’s coal mine. And he looks like he’s suffering from some noxious air.
