As most of you know, I am a member of Lighthouse Writers Workshop. Lighthouse is a non-profit writing community that offers workshops for all ages. I teach adults, but I am fortunate to teach in the Young Writers Program as well. This means I sometimes teach in Denver-area schools either as part of an after-school program or as a visiting writer during the school day. Sometimes I teach at summer camps or on weekends or on school holidays. At Lighthouse, no young writer is ever denied a spot in these workshops because of an inability to pay. That’s where you come in.
Colorado Gives Day is right around the corner and Lighthouse is a cause worth supporting. You can make a donation here and, if you’re so inclined, read a blog post about my experiences teaching in one of the area schools. There are also blog entries from young writers who’ve been a part of the program and from some of the other instructors. Enjoy! And thank you.
