This whole mess is tragic. It would be tragic even if Sacoolas had done the right thing and stayed in Britain. The tragedy is compounded because she fled. Diplomatic immunity was not created to provide cover for a spouse’s reckless driving.
This insult that really isn’t an insult is most often leveled at women. In many workplaces, men are the dreamers and women get to deal with the details. What these men don’t understand is that their big ideas are often full of flaws and false assumptions and insurmountable budget challenges. All of that has to be considered and overcome before anything will happen. You know what all that consideration is called? It’s called a plan.
I do know that my way is not the best way. Brandt Jean has the right idea. Nothing he does will bring his brother back. Forgiveness is healthier than holding on to a grudge. I believe his way is better, but I don’t even know how to get to where he is. I don’t believe I have the ability to be so gracious. I don’t believe I have the capacity for such kindness. When I see Amber Guyger, I see a woman who deserves whatever misery the world can send her.
I’m not surprised that Trump claims his phone call is no big deal. The man lies as easily as he scarfs down fast food “hamberders.” But what is wrong with the rest of the Republican party?
I suspect Lewandowski doesn’t trust anyone who gives him a seat at the table, because he understands that inviting him into the group devalues the group. He doesn’t want to be a part of any club that will have him.
If Charles Dickens were writing a modern day tale about a family of power-hungry evangelicals brought down by their own hypocrisy, greed, and a hint of pool boy sex scandal, you have to figure he’d consider calling them the Falwells. I mean, it’s perfect. Because the Falwells are, well, falling.
Look, you could go back to any administration in our history and find examples of our leaders wasting our money. This is not a partisan problem; it’s an American problem. But I don’t believe we’ve ever asked the taxpayers to spend a ton of money that would end up in the actual pocket of the President. The first family is running a massive scam, the second family is in on it, and we are all being robbed.

Spicer doesn’t deserve to be rebranded as just another hapless white man who can’t dance. And he’s certainly no “star.”
What’s next for Cuccinelli, I wonder? He could revise Langston Hughes’s iconic poem “Let America Be America Again.” All he has to do is edit out a few inconvenient stanzas to make the poem read as a rallying cry for the MAGA crowd.
