Warren is the daughter of working class parents, a mother, a former public school teacher turned Harvard professor turned U.S. Senator. She is an all-American success story, a woman who built a good life based on hard work, determination, grit, and common sense. She is the sort of woman we point to when we say to young girls, “you can do anything if you just work hard enough.” And she’s exactly the sort of woman girls will point to when they say, “no, we can’t, you won’t let us.”

He Said, She Said

He Said, She Said

Thanks to an incredibly flawed electoral system, a few people in a few states can override the will of the larger electorate. I suppose that’s what happens when your system of government is designed entirely by men.

Unqualified and Unfit

Unqualified and Unfit

When men refuse to hire or work with women strictly because they are women, that’s clear discrimination. It’s the sort of discrimination that sets women back professionally. And it’s against the law.

Your Boyfriend’s Back

Your Boyfriend’s Back

Joe Biden is like that old boyfriend who keeps wanting to give your relationship one more chance. You like him. You have some good memories of your time together. Virginity Is Not Morality

Virginity Is Not Morality

I don’t know what will happen to Brett Kavanaugh over the next few days. The Supreme Court nominee continues to vigorously deny accusations that he sexually assaulted one woman and exposed himself to another while he was in high school and college. It’s possible that he could be confirmed to the court as early as the end of this week. The senators in charge of his confirmation do not seem inclined to investigate the allegations with any vigor and I…

The Mansplainer in Chief is Throwing a Tantrum

Why aren’t these women doing anything about it? Poor Theresa May. Apparently Donald Trump told her how to do Brexit, but she didn’t listen. If only she’d taken his advice England would be peeling away from the European Union like a week-old sunburn. No fuss. No muss. And German Chancellor Angela Merkel keeps agitating Trump by running her country without consulting him. She’s all pro-immigration and anti-trade war, which is exactly the opposite of what Trump would recommend. But she…

What Bill Clinton Should Have Said

What Bill Clinton Should Have Said

Former President Bill Clinton answered a question about his history of sexual misconduct with a defensive deflection and a series of justifications that don’t hold up under scrutiny.  It’s been more than 20 years since Clinton’s workplace affair with intern Monica Lewinsky led the news, but that doesn’t make it irrelevant. In February, Vanity Fair published an insightful piece by Lewinsky about the scandal, her role in it, and the repercussions of the investigation on her life. If only Clinton…
